Contemporaries to covet in December

Happy December, everyone! It’s my favorite month of the year. I might be in my 30s, but the approaching holiday season still fills me with excitement.

For those of you who are new here, welcome! The first Monday of every month, I do a special giveaway. I tell you about a couple of contemporary romance novels being published this month that I’m looking forward to, and you tell me what you’re looking forward to. One person will win a $10 gift certificate for herself AND for the author she recommends. Fun times!

More details about the giveaway are below, but first, here are the December contemporary romances I can’t wait to read.

We’ll Be Home for Christmas by HelenKay Dimon

We'll Be Home for ChristmasNo man likes having his bedroom skills described as forgettable, but that’s just what Lila Payne does when she runs into Spencer Thomas again. When she discovers that he’d lied about his name during their brief three-day romp a few months before, she’s so angry that she pretends she doesn’t remember him.

Spence regrets his deception, but not as much as he regrets that their time together didn’t last longer. When she shows up in his town, looking to revitalize her uncle’s mountain resort, Spence is determined to help. Maybe rescuing Lila from a hopeless renovation project will get him in her good graces—and back in her bed.

Lila has no interest in being rescued, and Spence is insulted by her stubborn rebuffs and her “faulty” memory. But when rehab work turns into an after-hours meeting, the two of them are in for a night that just might prove unforgettable…

My two cents

I love HelenKay Dimon’s novels, and I love Christmas novellas, so what could be more perfect? Plus, I love stories where couples meet after an affair went bad.

This novella is available for purchase on its own or in a collection of two others (by Jaci Burton and Christi Barth) entitled Romancing the Holidays. Both the novella and the collection are out today, so you can download them right now!

Trouble in Texas by Katie Lane
THERE’S A FOX IN THE HENHOUSE

Trouble in TexasInheriting the most notorious house of ill repute in Texas can spell trouble for a girl’s reputation…especially when she’s Elizabeth Murphy, Bramble’s prim and proper librarian. Yet when she discovers a buck-naked cowboy handcuffed to a four-poster bed, she forgets all about the town gossips. Elizabeth has sworn off men, but the stranger’s kisses melt her resolve faster than ice cream on a hot summer day.

Waking up in Miss Hattie’s Henhouse isn’t how Brant Cates reckoned on getting to the bottom of his great-granddaddy’s murder. The plan was to solve the centuries-old crime, then get the heck out of Dodge. But after meeting Elizabeth and discovering that the buttoned-up beauty is a sexy siren in disguise, he just can’t pull himself away.

Now Brant needs Elizabeth to finally put his past to rest, but is she willing to risk her future on Bramble’s newest bad boy?

My two cents

I can’t even read that summary without smiling. Katie Lane’s books are the perfect balance of sexy, funny and emotional for me. I can’t wait to get back to Bramble!

Giveaway!

Answer at least one of the questions in bold below. By “contemporary romance” I mean romance between human beings set in the present day. It can be romantic suspense, inspirational, erotic, category-length, novellas or whatever.

I’ll randomly choose one winner on Tuesday December 11th. That person will get a $10 gift certificate to the online book retailer of their choice, AND I’ll send the same to the author they mention.

If the winner mentions more than one author, I’ll ask her to choose which one gets the gift certificate.

This is open internationally.

Questions:
What contemporary romance novel(s) being released in December are you looking forward to? Have you read anything by the authors I mentioned? Which of their books do you like best?

  1. I have never read a story by Katie Lane but I have one that I just got that I want to read and this looks like a fun story.

  2. How is it going mama to be? Am so happy for you. Are you going to find out the sex?

Anyway, havent read any of Lanes but have read several of HKD’s and have enjoyed them very much.

Now let’s see what I am looking forward to for Dec…

Carolyn Brown – Just a Cowboy and his Baby
Emma Cane – True Love at Silver Creek
Genell Dellin – Sweet Tea for Two
Shannon Stacy – All He Ever Needed

  3. P.S. – Love the fact that you saw contemp is a story between 2 humans. Because that is exactly what I like. None of that other stuff for me and no offense to anyone. LOL.

  4. I am not only looking forward to Breath on Embers by Anne Calhoun, I’ve already bought it. I’m more of a re-read OOP Signet Christmas stories from their old anthologies but a well-done contemporary Christmas story is always a treat. Like Pat L. said, for me, between two humans.

  5. I have not read any books by Ms. Dimon or Ms. Lane but I like the sound of both of these. I am looking forward to “Sea Glass Winter” by JoAnn Ross. And I am also intrigued by “Unbound” by Susan Donovan and Celeste Bradley. This is a contemporary/historical with characters in the present and the past so this one may not quite meet your guidelines!

  6. Major Congrats on your baby news!!! As for your questions about what books being released in December – well, all of them, of course. How could I possibly narrow it down?! I have real decision-making issues – so I let fate step in and decide what I’ll read a lot of the time. Tooooo many books, too little time. But always the anticipation of the next great read. Happy Holidays and best wishes for 2013!!! It sounds like 2013 is already going to deliver quite a bundle of joy.

  7. Carolyn Brown, Emma Cane, and some already out Victoria Alexander, Susan Mallory, Robin Carr, Mary Balogh. I know a couple are Historical, but like the too. Just discovered Katie lane’s but think I have read 4 of them

  8. I haven chosen which book I want because there are so many! I will check your suggestions. I read two captivating books by Moriah Densley, A song for Sophia and The Valkyrie’s Guardian. Lots of seduction in her stories! She has become one of my favorites authors. Nice blog!

  9. I’m looking forward to Katie Lane’s Trouble in Texas. I love her writing (although I am new to her books) style…just the right mix of humor & rugged cowboy! I recently read Small Town Christmas (an anthology from Nov 2011) and loved her story. Loved it so much, I read Going Cowboy Crazy & Make Mine a Bad Boy. I bought Catch Me a Cowboy & Hunk for the Holidays last week. I plan to read them during the holidays.

  10. I’m really looking forward to Trouble in Texas by Katie Lane! I always enjoy her books, and she’s one of the BEST authors on Facebook. This one sounds perfect….an unlikely but interesting romance with a fun setting, plus a bit of a mystery. 🙂

    1. No clue what the “nothing like getting paid” comment is about…..or how it got there….must have accidentally checked off a box or something….please ignore!

  11. I LOVE Katie’s books!!!! Such fun stories, not to mention hot cowboys. I really can’t wait for Trouble in Texas. I have a feeling Brant is going to have his hands full with Elizabeth.

  12. Any book by Katie Lane is a good book to read in December or any other month of the year. Her books are delightful, fun and very well written. I love the stories and all the characters. The descriptions are just that ….. descriptive and allow the reader to think they are right there “in” the story with all the characters. Sorry, I tend to babble but I do love Katie’s writing style so much.

  13. I love Katie’s books, In fact I have Hunk for The Holiday on my tbr shelf.. And can’t wait ot read her new book about the town of Bramble Texas.. They are just like coming back to old friends.

  14. I love Katie Lanes books. I fished Hunk for the Holidays yesterday. I’ve read all her books and love them.all. I can’t pick just one.

  15. I absolutely love Ms. Katie Lane’s series. The way she puts family first is one of the things that make her books stand out to me. I have her book on order from my public library, but to have one of my own would be a great christmas present. leann

  16. I’m really looking forward to Jill Sorenson’s “Aftershock.” I love her romantic suspenses. I am a huge fan of HelenKay’s books, but haven’t read anything by Katie.

  17. I am looking forward to reading A Seal at Heart by Anne Elizabeth. I enjoy the military aspect, it looks like something different from what I usually read. Sometimes a change is a good thing.

  18. I can’t wait until Carly Phillips’ ‘Perfect Fit’ is released this month. I’ve never read any of the authors mentioned here…. ‘We’ll Be Home for Christmas’ by HelenKay Dimon looks interesting (and I like it best).

Congratulations on all your great news!!!!

  19. I am really looking forward to the next book in the Serendipity series by Carly Phillips. I think that series is just so lovely and it makes me smile!
