Release day celebration for Tempting the Player! Win a $50 gift certificate!

Tempting The Player by Kat Latham

Woot woot! Tempting the Player arrives on ereaders today!

Matt and Libby’s story was such a pleasure to write, and I hope that shines through in the story. It features some of my favorite themes — a best-friends-to-lovers romance with a strong heroine who has an interesting job and a hero who utterly needs her.

I’ve been really excited about the reviews coming in. Readers are falling in love with Matt, and I have to say that I think he’s vulnerable and adorable all rolled up in one insanely sexy package.

I’m running a giveaway for readers who help me spread the word by tweeting, sharing the book on their blogs and writing a review. You could win a $50 gift certificate to the online retailer of your choice. Enter using the Rafflecopter widget at the bottom of the Tempting the Player page.

I hope you’ll take a chance on Matt, just like Libby has. And I hope you’ll be just as happy with that decision as she is!

See below for an exclusive peek at Libby and Matt’s first kiss. Enjoy!

Tempting the Player
Book three of the London Legends

Tempting The Player by Kat LathamBest friends make the best lovers.

Libby Hart and Matt Ogden are perfect for each other—as friends. They’ve known each other for ages. They act as each other’s plus-ones. They even share custody of a dog. And if there’s always been a little spark between them, so what? It’s never been worth jeopardizing their friendship.

Professional rugby player Matt is fighting for a starter position with the London Legends—and that’s not the only thing he’s fighting. A crippling fear of flying means he’s struggling to get his career off the ground. He has no time for a relationship, even if Libby does make him ache. As an airline pilot, Libby’s looking for a stay-at-home husband so she can have a family without sacrificing her high-flying career. Matt’s certainly not that man.

But just because they don’t have a future together doesn’t mean they can’t have a right now. When Matt asks Libby for help overcoming his fear, they agree to take a vacation from their platonic relationship—whenever they fly together, they can have sex. It’s the perfect way to resolve all that built-up tension. As long as they can avoid getting a little too comfortable…

Excerpt

“Libby.” He whispered her name as if it were a plea, a prayer even. More than that. The answer to his prayers.

Her plump lips parted and she explored him with the tip of her tongue. He met her, tangled with her, tasted her. She was all strawberries and sweetness, strength and power. She filled his arms and stole his sanity. He kissed her with all the pent-up passion he’d ignored for so long. He cradled her face, stroked her soft cheek, explored her to quench his curiosity, only to find so much more to be curious about.

Finally she pulled back far enough to drag in a shaky breath, forcing him to breathe too. Dropping his forehead to hers, he gripped her leather jacket and watched himself as if from a distant, foggy place, stroking his thumb across her bottom lip. Her body trembled—or was that his?

He wasn’t sure, not of anything. Not anymore.

The only thing he could make sense of was the need that pounded through his body. That, at least, was familiar. He would usually know how to take care of it, but not with Libby.

Her voice was soft but controlled when she finally used it. “Where do you usually sit when you fly?”

What the fuck? He started to pull away, but she held him close. He cleared his swollen throat. “I think I misheard you.”

“Do you have a favorite seat? Or an assigned seat?”

His thumb rode the words as her lips formed them. The sight was the only thing confirming that he hadn’t imagined what just happened. Five years of platonic friendship changed in an instant. He pulled his thumb back across her soft cheek to the hollow behind her ear. She pressed her lips hard together and eked out a moan that vibrated straight down to his groin. Wrestling a bit more control over himself, he answered. “In the back. By the loo. In case I puke.”

“Worst possible place for you to sit.”

Jesus—was it dangerous? Had he been fooling himself all this time, maybe sitting in the place most likely to break apart in a storm?

“I can see the gears working in your head.” Libby’s hands shifted from behind his back to the hair at his temples. She tilted his head back enough that they could make eye contact. What he saw in her face nearly brought him to his knees. Desire. Hesitant, eager desire. He’d always had hints of her attraction to him. Now that she let him see the full force of it, he felt powerless to control his reaction. He wanted her. Bad.
