Help John and Gwen make it to round two!

Vote for Unwrapping Her Perfect Match at DABWAHA.comAre you ready to RUMMMMBBBBLLLEEE!!!!

The DABWAHA polls open at midnight EST, and for 12 hours you’ll be able to vote for John and Gwen in the most important tournament of romance novels EVER.

My book is up against His Road Home by Anna Richland (a book that sounds fantastic, by the way, and I’m totally going to buy and read it — but not right now because Anna is my SWORN ENEMY for the next several hours). Anna threw down the gauntlet today, so here I am lacing up my rugby boots (figuratively speaking. The only boots I own are hiking boots) and getting ready to meet the challenge. Ready, Anna?

Here’s what she said about her hero, Rey, and my gentle giant, John Sheldon: “And while Rey’s first round competition is one of Kat Latham’s rugby players, probably a good enough guy to chill with, that dude’s not the guy who jumped into a canal and a freaking South Dakota ice bath when he saw a kid in trouble.”

Okay, I give you that point. John would happily jump into a canal, or even the Thames, to save a kid, but I can pretty much guarantee he couldn’t identify South Dakota on a map. Geography’s not his strong point. His abs are. And his pecs. And his arms, thighs, bum…I won’t go on.

More than his hot body, though, John Sheldon is a man with a massive heart. All he wants is to make Christmas perfect for his daughter — and to heal the emotional scars some jerkwad inflicted on emergency-room nurse Gwen Chambers.

Rey sounds like a great guy, though. So why should you vote for a rugby player?

Reason number one:

Rucking

Reason number two:

Rugbys a sport played by men with oddly

So there you have it.
Vote for rucking.
Vote for balls.

Round one voting is open March 19, midnight to noon EST. That’s:

Weds 9 p.m. to Thurs 9 a.m. Pacific
Thurs 4 a.m. to 4 p.m. GMT
Thurs 3 p.m. to Fri 3 a.m. AEDT (Sydney)

Which kinda sucks because most of the people I know will be asleep and then getting ready for work. But I’m sure your bosses will understand if you’re a few minutes late. Make sure you do your civic duty to the romance community and vote!

  1. HA! Rey thought his trash talk was all under the radar, like his stealth ops. Guess he was wrong. This has happened to him before, namely when he faked an engagement photo using an old yearbook picture. That mistake exploded on the internet about ten minutes after an old Soviet mine exploded under him. Rey might be Special Forces, but sometimes he does the dumbest stuff. Pulls it out though.

And why should people vote for Rey Cruz and Grace Kim? Well, I’m not techy enough to stick photos in this post (and Kat would probably stick me in moderation!) so I hope you’ll follow the link in my name and see the photos a reviewer posted.

And one of the real life inspirations for Rey? Sergeant Bryan Anderson. Recently photographed by Michael Stokes Photography! ** does he do rugby players? **

  2. Thanks! I wish you 49% well too!

But really – a hat? John’s wearing a hat? Please tell me either Gwen or his daughter knitted it for him. We have professional soccer here in Seattle, and my family all have Sounders scarves to show loyalty, so I get the scarf. I believe the scarf. Jocks, they can wear scarves. But I think only baristas wear knit hats.

  3. He looks EXACTLY like Seattle Baristas! Except they usually hide their man buns under their hats. (hair buns, not bum – buns). The tattooed muscled barista is why we drink so much coffee out here! It’s not JUST for the caffeine.

But congratulations – this was fun! (And I’m glad I’m not going up against Sonali Dev or getting Krakened, let me tell you).

    1. Anna, I had so much fun “competing” with you! And I’ve got His Road Home on my phone now, so I’ll be reading it as soon as I’m no longer on deadline hell!

      All the best!
