When an aid worker gives an elderly man the kiss of life, she’s shocked to discover his grandson wants to return the favor.
Aid worker Caitlyn Sweeney has spent most of her adult life moving from one disaster zone to the next. It’s just about the worst job for developing long-term relationships, but a relationship is the last thing Caitlyn wants. After seeing her parents’ marriage disintegrate into tragedy, she’s more than happy spending her life single.
If only it weren’t for that damn itch—the one that tells her it’s not healthy for a twenty-seven-year-old woman to be a virgin when it’s not a matter of moral values but fear of intimacy.
Now she’s temporarily living in London, managing aid programs from afar for the organization International Disaster and Emergency Aid, or IDEA. One night as she’s walking home from work, Caitlyn sees an old man having a heart attack and gives him the kiss of life.
His grandson, English rugby player Spencer Bailey, isn’t just grateful – he’s instantly attracted to the curvy Yank. He spends every rugby season celibate to concentrate on his game. Now that it’s July, he’s itching for a summer of sexy hijinks before the season starts in September. When he makes his move on Caitlyn, though, he discovers she has far less experience than he could have imagined.
Spencer soon discerns a way they can do some mutual back-scratching: he wants to sleep with a woman who understands their relationship must end when rugby season begins in two months, and she needs a friend who can introduce her to sex with no strings attached. The proposal sounds perfect to Caitlyn. After all, she knows from heartbreaking experience that marriage is the most dangerous disaster of all.
First in the Humanitarian Hearts series about women working for an international aid charity.
