That’s it! If I advance to the next round, I’ll randomly choose one of the people who voted and commented on this post.

Why should you vote for Unwrapping Her Perfect Match? I asked my Facebook readers, and here’s what they said.

Thank you in advance!

I won the first round of DABWAHA! So I’m giving away the good stuff!

I’m absolutely thrilled to say that you guys voted Unwrapping Her Perfect Match through to the second round. I can’t thank you enough!

The next round of voting takes place this weekend, and I’ll let you know when my slot is. But first, I’d like to tell you how awesome Anna Richland is. When I found out I was going up against her, and I read the blurb of her book, I felt really sorry that we had to compete against each other. His Road Home sounds amazing. I’ve bought it and can’t wait to read it.

And I want to give you guys the chance to read it too. I’m going to gift it to 10 readers. Here’s how you can enter:

1. Sign up for my newsletter.

I’ll give away 3 copies of His Road Home to my newsletter subscribers. I’ll announce the giveaway when I send out a newsletter this weekend asking for second-round votes. 🙂

2. Leave a comment on this blog post.

I’ll give away 2 copies to people who leave a comment here.

3. Comment on this Facebook post.

Again, I’m giving away 3 copies there.

4. Tweet that you want to read His Road Home by Anna Richland (make sure you include @KatrinaLatham in the tweet, otherwise I won’t know you tweeted it).

I’ll randomly select 2 winners who tweet that.

I’ll select all winners on Sunday, March 22.

Other giveaways!

I’ll be announcing other giveaway winners in my next newsletter and on Facebook. And I’ll let you know about more giveaways once I know when the next round is taking place. So stay tuned!

Help John and Gwen make it to round two!

Vote for Unwrapping Her Perfect Match at DABWAHA.comAre you ready to RUMMMMBBBBLLLEEE!!!!

The DABWAHA polls open at midnight EST, and for 12 hours you’ll be able to vote for John and Gwen in the most important tournament of romance novels EVER.

My book is up against His Road Home by Anna Richland (a book that sounds fantastic, by the way, and I’m totally going to buy and read it — but not right now because Anna is my SWORN ENEMY for the next several hours). Anna threw down the gauntlet today, so here I am lacing up my rugby boots (figuratively speaking. The only boots I own are hiking boots) and getting ready to meet the challenge. Ready, Anna?

Here’s what she said about her hero, Rey, and my gentle giant, John Sheldon: “And while Rey’s first round competition is one of Kat Latham’s rugby players, probably a good enough guy to chill with, that dude’s not the guy who jumped into a canal and a freaking South Dakota ice bath when he saw a kid in trouble.”

Okay, I give you that point. John would happily jump into a canal, or even the Thames, to save a kid, but I can pretty much guarantee he couldn’t identify South Dakota on a map. Geography’s not his strong point. His abs are. And his pecs. And his arms, thighs, bum…I won’t go on.

More than his hot body, though, John Sheldon is a man with a massive heart. All he wants is to make Christmas perfect for his daughter — and to heal the emotional scars some jerkwad inflicted on emergency-room nurse Gwen Chambers.

Rey sounds like a great guy, though. So why should you vote for a rugby player?

Reason number one:

Reason number two:

Round one voting is open March 19, midnight to noon EST. That’s:

Weds 9 p.m. to Thurs 9 a.m. Pacific
Thurs 4 a.m. to 4 p.m. GMT
Thurs 3 p.m. to Fri 3 a.m. AEDT (Sydney)

Which kinda sucks because most of the people I know will be asleep and then getting ready for work. But I’m sure your bosses will understand if you’re a few minutes late. Make sure you do your civic duty to the romance community and vote!

My Christmas novella is in DABWAHA, the March Madness of romance novels! You can win prizes for playing!

YOU GUYS!! Unwrapping Her Perfect Match just got one of the coolest compliments a book can get. It’s been included in DABWAHA!

DABWAHA

What the heck is DABWAHA?

DABWAHA is a tournament to find readers’ favorite romance novels of 2014. It’s run by the bloggers at Dear Author and Smart Bitches Trashy Books, which is why the name is the Dear Author Bitchery Writing Award for Hellagood Authors. (Catchy, no?)

They start with 8 categories, each with 8 books. That’s 64 books (mostly books that were favorably reviewed on one of the sites last year, but some books are nominated by readers, too). Yesterday they announced seven of the categories, and Unwrapping Her Perfect Match is right there under Novellas!

The eighth category is made up of books nominated by readers. This week, you can nominate books you think should be part of the tournament. You just need the ISBN (if there’s a print version available) or ASIN if it’s digital only. If my other two books of 2014 are on your list of favorites, here are the ASINs:
Playing It Close B00GKBIQNG
Tempting the Player B00L7NTY7Y

Once the tournament’s live, readers make a bracket by selecting the books they want to see advance in each round. Then you vote on your favorite books in each category, and the winning books move on to the next round. Whomever has the most perfect bracket after each round wins a prize.

Unwrapping Her Perfect MatchHow can I get involved?

1. Nominate your favorite books of 2014 to be included. (till March 13)

2. Make your own bracket. (March 15)

3. Vote! (March 17 onwards)

Right now, you can only do #1. When the tournament goes live, you can do #2 and #3. And there will be lots of bribery trying to buy your vote. 🙂

I’ll be back later with bribes. I’m really hoping I don’t go out in the first round. Please help me!

Have you read any of the books in the Novella category? What do you think my chances are? (You can be honest. I know I’m up against Goliaths!)

It’s release day for Unwrapping Her Perfect Match! + a giveaway!

Sexy rugby players are like buses. You wait forever for one to come along, and then two show up at once. 🙂

Today “Little” John Sheldon is ready to make your Christmas special. John’s a big man with a big heart. He’s not suave or sophisticated. In fact, he quite often makes a hash of things, as the Brits would say.

In other words, he no stranger to screwing up.

But he steals Gwen Chambers’ heart, and believe me when I say that hers is a tough heart to steal. She’s been hurt badly in the past, and she’s very protective of herself. But it’s Christmas, the most magical time of the year.

I hope you love their story. If you help me spread the word by tweeting, adding it to Goodreads shelves or writing a review, you could win a $25 gift card and a British Christmas prize pack. Click here and enter using the Rafflecopter at the bottom of the page.

Unwrapping Her Perfect Match’Twas a week before Christmas, and at the auction house…

At six foot one, Gwen Chambers has felt like a giant her whole life. She’s a calm, capable nurse saving lives in a busy London hospital, but healthy men give her heart palpitations. When larger-than-life rugby player “Little” John Sheldon convinces her to bid on him in his team’s fundraising auction, she discovers how pleasurable heart palpitations can be.

A rugby player was stirring, with desire no one could douse…

John has wanted Gwen since he first saw her, but when he’s injured in a match just before Christmas he suddenly needs her too. Not only can the sexy nurse help him recover, but she might be able to help him look after his daughter—a shy ten-year-old who speaks only French.

But will it be a Happy Christmas for all, and for all a good night?

From decorating the Christmas tree to ice skating at the Tower of London, Gwen helps father and daughter open up and bond with each other—and she bonds right along with them. But when John’s agent calls with a life-changing offer, Gwen has to decide how far she’s willing to go for her perfect match. Will their first Noël also be their last?

Unwrapping Her Perfect Match: A London Legends Christmas Novella

Excerpt

Here’s an excerpt from Chapter Two, after Gwen buys John in an auction and she makes secret plans to take him on a date. Enjoy!

***

Nervous energy zipped through Gwen as her Tube train screeched its way into Angel. She hated, hated being late, but a bus accident had kept her rushing around at work far later than she’d planned. She’d barely had time to change her clothes, throwing on her best woolen skirt and a jumper before running out of the hospital. ’Twas the season of heavy layers and too many people on the Tube, making her sweat just as much as the anticipation of seeing John again.

How could one big man make her this jumpy?

When the train’s doors opened, she and a hundred other Londoners poured onto the Underground platform and boarded the steep escalator to freedom. A blast of cold air hit her hot cheeks as she crested the top.

And there he was, looking massive and intimidating in a thick winter coat, leaning against the exit with his wooly cap pulled low over his forehead—and a bouquet of roses in his hands.

Her tummy tightened. The last time someone had given her flowers…

He’s not Adam.

She took a deep breath and walked toward him. He seemed to notice her straightaway, a broad smile transforming his face. “You made it.”

“I’m so sorry I’m late. There was a bus accident—”

He blanched and clasped her arm. “Jesus. Are you all right?”

“Yeah, yeah. Sorry, I forgot you didn’t know. I’m a nurse.”

His body practically wilted. “Oh. Thank God. I mean…was anyone badly hurt?”

“Everyone was stable by the time I left.”

“Good. That must be a tough job.”

“It’s challenging, but I like it. And I make sure I do plenty of fun things to keep me balanced. Like tonight’s plan, for example.”

He leaned closer and gave her a conspiratorial grin. “Want to tell me what we’re doing?”

“If I did, you’d probably jump over everyone here in your rush to get away.”

He stroked the pad of his thumb across her cheek, the coolness of his touch so surprising against her overheated skin that she shivered. “I’m not running away, Gwen. Even if we end up at a male strip club.”

She coughed. “Um, excuse me?”

“I saw Tess today. She kept looking at me and laughing her arse off. So I’m making guesses here about what we’re doing.”

“Not that. Ever.”

“Just saying—I can scream ‘Take it off!’ with the best of them.”
