Interview with debut author Jamie Wesley – & Kindle giveaway!

Tell Me Something Good

Today I’m really excited to introduce you to Jamie Wesley, whose debut book comes out today! I’m really excited to read Tell Me Something Good – I always love books where the characters have fun, unusual jobs. Rival radio-show hosts? Sign me up!

Here’s Jamie to tell us more. Make sure you enter the giveaway below. Jamie’s giving away a Kindle!

1. How do your hero and heroine meet, and what are their first impressions of each other?

Tate and Noelle meet about a year before the story starts at a staff meeting, and well, let’s just say it was not love at first sight. I believe there were accusations of being a pig and someone needing to take a stick out of a certain body part. Things haven’t improved in the year since.

2. What are their best and worst characteristics?

Tate is fun-loving and doesn’t worry about what other people think. However, he’s also a bit arrogant and stubborn.

Noelle sees the best in everyone (well, except for Tate) and is always willing to help someone. But, she, too, is stubborn.

3. Where is this book set, and what makes the setting special?

The book is set in my hometown, Dallas, but what makes it really special is that the story takes place at a talk radio station. By the very definition of their jobs (and the task presented to them), Tate and Noelle have no choice but to share their thoughts about all kinds of things. I’m sure it won’t come as much of a surprise that they don’t always agree. 🙂

4. Do you write in genres other than contemporary? If not, are there any genres you would love to write in?

No, I’m a contemporary gal all the way. I don’t have the imagination to write paranormal and I’m terrified of screwing up my facts in a historical and receiving angry emails from readers.

Someday, I’d love to write a kid’s book in the vein of The Babysitters Club series. Those books were key in cultivating my love of reading, and I’d love to offer that same gift to another child.

5. How would you describe your books?

Funny, sexy, modern, and heartfelt.

6. What’s the best compliment a reader could give you?

Your book made me laugh, fan myself, and cry. (I don’t ask for much – lol).

7. If you weren’t an author, what would be your dream career?

I’m a sports junkie. While I do work in the sports industry, I’d love to work for one of the Dallas professional teams in their community relations department. Or at The Wide World of Sports at Walt Disney World.

8. If you were stuck on a desert island, what ONE book would you want with you?

Hardest question ever. Umm, umm…are you really going to make me choose?

If 10-year-old Jamie were answering, I’d say Anne of Green Gables or The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe.

Adult Jamie is torn between It Had to be You by Susan Elizabeth Phillips, the first sports romance I read and probably Born in Fire by Nora Roberts (or some Nora book).

Actually, Adult Jamie wants to go through my collection of books because I’m sure I’m forgetting a book I absolutely adore and can’t live without.

Tell Me Something GoodTell Me Something Good

Two radio show hosts. One show. Who will come out on top?

In a moment of restlessness, Tate Grayson sold his multimillion-dollar company and spun his love of sports into a radio talk show. Life, and love, is too short to take seriously—a fact he enjoys rubbing in uptight radio host Noelle Butler’s face.

After the death of her parents, a tragedy she blamed on herself, Noelle vowed to live a controlled, focused life. Now a psychologist, she channels her need for connection into her radio show. But when the arrogant sportscaster next door tells listeners men shouldn’t get married, she’s all too happy to yank the silver spoon out of his overprivileged mouth.

Their heated on-air arguments are a hit, but when the station director forces them to do a joint show for two weeks, Tate and Noelle object. They can’t stand each other, despite the attraction sizzling beneath every interaction. But if they can’t pull the struggling radio station back from the brink, they’ll lose their jobs. Or worse, their hearts.

About Jamie

Jamie Wesley

Jamie Wesley has been reading romance novels since she was about 12 when her mother left a romance novel, which a friend had given her, on the nightstand. Jamie read it instead, and the rest is history.

She started her first manuscript, a contemporary romance, after she graduated from Northwestern University in 2002 and couldn’t find a job. Life got in the way as it often does, i.e. she found a job, and she didn’t finish the story. However, she never forgot about it and finally got serious about completing it in 2009. She’s been writing ever since.

Jamie holds a master’s degree in sport management (yes, that’s a real thing 🙂 ) from the University of Texas at Austin, so it probably comes as no surprise that she loves sports and spends an inordinate amount of time rooting for her hometown Dallas’s pro sports teams and her alma maters.

She also adores Walt Disney World, shopping, and pop culture. Want to know if your favorite TV show is going to be canceled or what the newest Disney attraction is? Ask Jamie. She’ll probably know the answer.

  1. Hey, if you’re looking for a sports job, come to Indiana… I guess the book I would take would be one that is never-ending….

    1. Hi Kate,

Don’t think I haven’t thought about it! Recently, there was a job with the NCAA I thought about applying for. I ended up not doing it, but I did think about it.

And I love the way your mind works! You’d never have to reread it.

  2. One of my favorite books is “Into The Wilderness” by Sara Donati. It’s definitely become a comfort read for me. Invariably, I will pick it up with every intention of just reading one of my favorite parts and then just keep reading the entire (huge) book!

    1. Love it, Justine! And then you can learn how to spell all those words and enter spelling bees! Or maybe that’s just my nerdy, former spelling bee competitor side talking. lol.

  3. i think i will take the omnibus dition with all the lords of the rings titles and bilbot the hobbit ^^ a great aventureto spend the time^^

  4. Besides a book on how to survive on a desert island? I think Pride and Prejudice. There is so much to ruminate on in there.

    1. Hi Quinn,

But didn’t we learn everything we needed to know about surviving on a deserted island on Gilligan’s Island reruns? Or was that just me? 🙂 Another vote for Jane Austen. I love how her work endures.

  5. Yay! Congratulations on your release, Jamie! 🙂

To answer your question… Can’t my “one book” BE a Kindle (with an infinity battery, of course), so I wouldn’t have to choose? 😉

No? Okay, how about one of the compilation books I have–like the full Chronicles of Narnia or a collection of seven Jane Austen novels–all in ONE physical hardcover? Hah!

    1. Thanks, Jami!

You know when I was posed the one-book question, I never thought about omnibuses or ereaders. I’m such a rule follower. I love everyone’s ingenuity!

  6. Wow what a GREAT premise I’m going to get this book definitely. Thanks for the contest!!
Wow I have to pick one book, okay For Whom The Bell Tolls. 🙂 yeah gotta love those Classics 😉

  7. Congratulations on your new release. I would take Buehler’s Backyard Boatbuilding by George Buehler. One of the reviews says that it is a great book for beginners and I don’t plan on staying on a desert island for long. If that one is too difficult to follow then I would have to take the Ultrasimple Boat Building: 18 Plywood Boats Anyone Can Build by Gavin Atkin with me. 😀

  8. Congratulations on your new book!! I’m looking forward to reading Tell Me Something Good 🙂 Oh this is such a hard question!! I would probably choose a Nora Roberts book, like my favourite The Winning Hand. Or an anthology so I could read more than one.

  9. I think if I could have only one book it would be Gone with the Wind because I would like to reread it someday and it is a large book. Your book sounds like a fantastic read and can’t wait to read it. Thanks for the great giveaway. I will be entering under the name of Virginia

  10. I hope this goes through, did it yesterday but came back saying I needed a website (which I don’t have)?
I would take my Nook with the books fully downloaded on it :). It also contains my Kindle so… I would be set. There are just too many to choose just one.

  11. Solaris by Stanislaw Lem or Love is just a word by Johannes Mario Simmel or Icarus’s Way by Lyuben Dilov.

  12. OMG. A dictionary or hooked on phonics. Fab. & splendid. 2 fingers snap. I need them; I am iternate. . Thanks for the awesomeness, the contest, & generosity. Dear Santa: I have been nice. My X-Mas wish this year is to win this contest.

  13. I want to stuck in Island with Mia Sheridan’s book, Archer’s Voice because it is a great read! Thank you

  14. The Sea of Tranquility is one of my favorite reads :))
I’m hooked from the very first time I read that.
My friends even gave me a paperback of this

  15. I would probably have to have something exciting like maybe Harry Potter, but then Outlander is quite entertaining. Oh I hope I never have to choose just one.
