Contemporaries to covet in March – & giveaway!

You guys, how can it possibly be March already?? February flew past in rush of head colds, sneezes and over-productive noses.

I hope your families have stayed healthier than mine has.

Anyway, it’s time to give a shout-out to the contemporary romance authors whose books we’re most looking forward to this month. Hurrah! And, as always, one lucky reader will win a $10 gift certificate for herself AND for the author she mentions. See below for details, but first, here are the March contemporary romances I’m most looking forward to.

Waiting On You by Kristan Higgins

Is your first love worth a second chance…?

Waiting On You by Kristan HigginsColleen O’Rourke is in love with love…just not when it comes to herself. Most nights, she can be found behind the bar at the Manningsport, New York, tavern she owns with her twin brother, doling out romantic advice to the lovelorn, mixing martinis and staying more or less happily single. See, ten years ago, Lucas Campbell broke her heart…an experience Colleen doesn’t want to have again, thanks. Since then, she’s been happy with a fling here and there, some elite-level flirting and playing matchmaker to her friends.

But a family emergency has brought Lucas back to town, handsome as ever and still the only man who’s ever been able to crack her defenses. Seems like maybe they’ve got some unfinished business waiting for them—but to find out, Colleen has to let her guard down, or risk losing a second chance with the only man she’s ever loved.

A Match Made in Texas by Katie Lane

A Match Made in Texas by Katie LaneA MATCH MADE IN TEXAS is the sixth book in Katie Lane’s bestselling, witty and sexy Deep in the Heart of Texas series.
Living with four over-protective brothers is enough to make a good girl go bad. But the day Brianne Cates hits the road for a taste of freedom, she gets more trouble than she bargained for when she’s arrested by a sexy sheriff in mirrored shades. Now doing a stint of community service, she’s not going to let a cowboy cop like Dusty Hicks mess with her newfound independence-even if he awakens every wicked fantasy she’s ever had.

In Bramble, Texas, Dusty is the law. That means no leniency for the gorgeous rebel whose highway antics almost got them both killed. The divorced lawman doesn’t need another rich, pampered princess, even if Brianne has the lushest body and sweetest smile in the whole darn state. But even as Brianne proves that she lives to walk on the wild side, Dusty begins to wonder if maybe he has what it takes to tame her….

Giveaway!

Answer at least one of the questions in bold below. By “contemporary romance” I mean romance between human beings set in the present day. It can be romantic suspense, inspirational, erotic, category-length, novellas or whatever.

I’ll randomly choose one winner on Tuesday March 11, 2014. That person will get a $10 gift certificate to the online book retailer of their choice, AND I’ll send the same to the author they mention.

If the winner mentions more than one author, I’ll ask the winner to choose which one gets the gift certificate.

This is open internationally.

Questions:
What contemporary romance novel(s) being released in March are you looking forward to? (There’s a wonderful list at Heroes & Heartbreakers.) Have you read anything by the authors I mentioned? Which of their books do you like best?

Contemporaries to covet in December

Happy December, everyone! It’s my favorite month of the year. I might be in my 30s, but the approaching holiday season still fills me with excitement.

For those of you who are new here, welcome! The first Monday of every month, I do a special giveaway. I tell you about a couple of contemporary romance novels being published this month that I’m looking forward to, and you tell me what you’re looking forward to. One person will win a $10 gift certificate for herself AND for the author she recommends. Fun times!

More details about the giveaway are below, but first, here are the December contemporary romances I can’t wait to read.

We’ll Be Home for Christmas by HelenKay Dimon

We'll Be Home for ChristmasNo man likes having his bedroom skills described as forgettable, but that’s just what Lila Payne does when she runs into Spencer Thomas again. When she discovers that he’d lied about his name during their brief three-day romp a few months before, she’s so angry that she pretends she doesn’t remember him.

Spence regrets his deception, but not as much as he regrets that their time together didn’t last longer. When she shows up in his town, looking to revitalize her uncle’s mountain resort, Spence is determined to help. Maybe rescuing Lila from a hopeless renovation project will get him in her good graces—and back in her bed.

Lila has no interest in being rescued, and Spence is insulted by her stubborn rebuffs and her “faulty” memory. But when rehab work turns into an after-hours meeting, the two of them are in for a night that just might prove unforgettable…

My two cents

I love HelenKay Dimon’s novels, and I love Christmas novellas, so what could be more perfect? Plus, I love stories where couples meet after an affair went bad.

This novella is available for purchase on its own or in a collection of two others (by Jaci Burton and Christi Barth) entitled Romancing the Holidays. Both the novella and the collection are out today, so you can download them right now!

And now back to our regularly scheduled program…contemporary romance new releases!

So here’s what’s on my TBR pile.

Hunk for the Holidays by Katie Lane

Hunk for the HolidaysAlways putting business before pleasure, Cassie McPherson works hard for her family’s construction business. That might explain why she doesn’t have a date for the company Christmas party. But it doesn’t quite explain why she’s crazy enough to hire an escort for the event or – crazier still – why she’s dying to unwrap him like a present…

With whiskey-colored eyes and a killer smile, James is one gorgeous hunk who really knows how to fill out a tuxedo. He charms everyone, including Cassie. And when the night ends, the party doesn’t stop. As Cassie falls, literally, into his bed, James falls head over heels in love. Now he has to figure out a way to tell her the truth: he’s not an escort. He’s her family’s fiercest business rival. But all he wants for Christmas is her…

Winner of my Facebook giveaway!

Thanks to everyone who voted in my Facebook giveaway, we now know that romance readers LOVE cowboys (was it ever a secret?), but quite a few of us are partial to veterinarians, too.

One lucky Facebook friend gets both a cowboy and a vet. Fictional ones, unfortunately. But still, it’s really fantastic fiction.

That lucky winner is…catslady!

Catslady, send me your mailing address: romancingkatrina[at]gmail[dot]com

Here’s what catslady won:

Animal AttractionAnimal Attraction by Jill Shalvis

Jade Bennett couldn’t be happier to escape her past for the quiet ranching town of Sunshine, Idaho. Plus, there’s nothing like working for veterinarian Dell Connelly. And though Dell has no intention of settling down, Jade’s strength and sass are enticements no red-blooded male can resist.

Going Cowboy Crazy by Katie Lane

Faith Aldridge wants answers. Bramble, Texas is the only place she can find them . . . as well as Hope, the identical twin sister she never knew she had. But the townsfolk reckon that shy city-girl Faith is really her long-lost sister Hope, back in Bramble at last. And they’re fixin’ to do whatever it takes to heat things up between her and Hope’s long-time flame, Slate Calhoun. Going Cowboy CrazyIf that means rustling her car, spreading rumors like wildfire, and reining in some explosive secrets, well, there’s no way like the Lone Star way . . .

But Slate’s no fool. The woman in his truck may look like Hope, yet the way she feels in his arms is altogether new. He’s determined to keep this twin in his bed and out of his heart.

Trouble is, the real Hope is headed home, and she’s got her own designs on Slate. If Faith wants to avoid heartbreak, she’ll have to show a certain ruggedly handsome cowboy that this crazy-impossible love is worth fighting for.
