Last week I needed a quick, funny romance fix, and with Valentine’s Day in mind I bought Dodging Cupid by Kelly Fitzpatrick.
I’ve read Kelly’s novels and another novella, and I know she writes the kind of stories I love. She’s full of snarky humor and unusual characters.
I honestly couldn’t put Dodging Cupid down. I was completely charmed and can’t recommend it highly enough to anyone looking to cheer up their Valentine’s Day. For those of you who want the focus to be on the romance rather than the sex, it’s perfect. And for those of you who like dry humor, it’s also perfect.
Kelly has graciously offered to give away a copy to someone who leaves a comment here – woo hoo! Here’s some more info about the novella, and the giveaway details are below.
After a string of disastrous Valentine’s Days, broken hearts and failed relationships, Jenna’s decided to spend this Valentine’s Day in the least romantic spot possible—the coin-op laundry.
No flowers. No candy. No annoying couples or romance of any kind. The only glitch in her plan is the leather-clad biker in heart-print boxer shorts who walks in as her washer starts. This just might turn out to be the best Valentine’s Day Jenna’s ever had.

Kelly’s giving away one digital copy (in either epub, pdf or prc format) to someone who leaves a comment here. I’ll randomly choose a winner on Tuesday February 12th so you’ll get the novella in time for Valentine’s Day. Good luck!
I have not read any of her books yet but I think I’m going to buy this one. It sounds like it will be good.
I love romance novellas, and this one sounds like so much fun! Please enter me in the giveaway.
i love to read romance, and i would love to discover her as a writer so i think this giveaway would be a perfect place to be introduced to her writings. after i read her work i will definatly leave a review on goodreads.
This books sounds like fun! A love story that can make me laugh, too, is always a bonus.
Valentines Day – not one of my favorite holidays. I can definitely sympathize with the heroine of the book as I spent many years unattached and I hated the holidays that were all about relationships. Even now, we are not particularly romantic, so we pretty much just ignore it, although the hubs asked me just last night if I’d like him to order flowers to be delivered at work. (I told him I’d rather have them at home).
Sweet of him to ask, Jen!
We ignore Valentine’s in our house, too. In fact, I’ll be getting home really late from work, so I’ll probably just want Smarty Pants to feed me and let me fall asleep right after.
Thank you, Kat for your very kind review. Every VD is just another day around the Fitzpatrick household. My husband (who is normally way more romantic than me) is oblivious to the holiday. I doubt he could tell you what month it falls in. He started a new job the other day and texted me to ask what my DOB is for the paperwork. And we’ve been married for 18 years (he doesn’t know that either – when I tell him, he says it seems like much longer). But the guy defrosts my car when it’s icy and disposes of dead rodents my cat drags home. What more could a gal want?
Kelly, there’s nothing more romantic than a man who shows his love through rodent removal. He sounds like a keeper. 🙂
Agreed!
Not too much of a novella fan, but you made this one sound good.
We are excting a blizzard this afternoon (NY) and another storm on Thurs. Enuf is enuf – must be another bad relative of Sandy’s.
Sorry no VAlentine’s stories.
My Valentine’s Days have never been very special. Curling up with this book would be a definite improvement. LOL
This novella looks to be a great read, looking forward to it. Valentine’s have pretty much been very run of the mill and not so special for me in recent years, looking forward to changing that hopefully. Thanks for the chance to win 🙂
All the books look good. I will take any one of them!
I haven’t read Kelly yet (sorry Kelly!), but am always looking for new authors, especially when recommended by authors I love! (Yes, Kat, I mean you!) Love the premise of this novella; sounds like fun. And who could resist a guy in Velntine boxers, anyway?
Sue, I love you. Will you be my Valentine? 🙂
I have never had an amazing Valentine’s Day, but I’m not dead yet. Maybe this year.
That’s the spirit!
LOL, Ann! Anyway, I had a bad Valentine’s Day the first year I dated my husband. We had been going out for 3 months & had planned a Caribbean vacation a couple weeks after Valentine’s Day (his idea). So, Valentine’s Day comes & he makes no plans at all. We ended up driving around looking for a restaurant that wasn’t packed & ended up with a not-so-great Italian meal. I was wondering if the vacation might not be the greatest thing, thinking he was having 2nd thoughts. Well, 22 years later, I guess that day was a blip!
That sounds like an incredibly annoying day. I’m glad the trip was better than that V-Day!
Sounds like a fun read. I’ll be celebrating in style this year…my husband ordered me a MacBook Air that’s due to arrive next week. Although between you, me and the lamp post, he really just wanted to get his (cute) grubby hands on my MacBook Pro. We’ll likely be spending the night side by side on the couch tapping away. Maybe we can play footsies 🙂
Lila, that sounds like most evenings in this house, too. Very romantic. 🙂
no disasters and haven’t done anything drastic
