Contemporaries to covet in December – and a giveaway with a twist!

This week I’m doing something a little different. Instead of hosting an interview and giveaway with an author, I want to tell you the contemporary romance novels I’m looking forward to in December and do a giveaway with a twist.

I’ll choose one person who leaves a comment to win a $10 gift certificate to the online book retailer of their choice AND I’ll send a $10 gift certificate to the contemporary romance author they mention in their comment, on their behalf.

I want to reward not just my blog readers but the authors they love. Plus, I think a lot of published authors shy away from entering giveaway contests, but c’mon! this is one where the novelists you adore can also win.

I’ll put the nitty-gritty at the bottom of the post. Just make sure you gush about a contemporary romance that’s coming out in December that you really want to read.

So, here’s what I’ve read advanced copies of and can highly recommend.

Hot Zone by Catherine Mann

Hot ZoneFor Pararescueman Master Sergeant Hugh Franco, it’s all about saving other people’s lives. Then he moves on. But when he pulls beautiful Amelia Bailey and her adopted nephew from the rubble of a catastrophic earthquake, he finds himself entangled in their lives in ways he could never have imagined…

Amelia’s trip to the Bahamas to help with an international adoption has been no vacation, but the hardest part is yet to come. As Amelia and Hugh are pulled unawares into a deadly smuggling scheme, simmering beneath their growing need to protect each other is a compelling attraction they’re both determined to deny…

My take

I’m so stinkin’ jealous that I didn’t write this book. Of course, I never could’ve written it, but it was just awesome from beginning to end. Really fast, heart-thumping romantic suspense.

Wild Thing by Robin Kaye

Wild ThingWhitewater-rafting guide Hunter Kincaid lands his dream job–guiding sportswear models through Idaho’s rugged wilderness for a week-long photo shoot. When he meets Toni Russo, the goth New York manager of Action Models, there are enough sparks to set the forest ablaze.

When Hunter finds Toni’s book on how to marry the man of your choice, he studies it as a joke. Before long Hunter realizes he’s never cared enough for a woman to bother working this hard to get her. But the last man in the world this city girl wants is a Survivor Man wannabe…

My take

A goth heroine! And a rugged hero! Seriously, you’ll want to book the first flight to Idaho after reading this book.

Exclusively Yours by Shannon Stacey

Exclusively YoursWhen Keri Daniels’s boss finds out she has previous carnal knowledge of reclusive bestselling author Joe Kowalski, she gives Keri a choice: get an interview or get a new job.

Joe’s never forgotten the first girl to break his heart, so he’s intrigued to hear Keri’s back in town—and looking for him. He proposes an outrageous plan—for every day she survives with his family on their annual camping trip, Keri can ask one question.

The chemistry between Joe and Keri is as potent as the bug spray, but Joe’s sister is out to avenge his broken heart, and Keri hasn’t ridden an ATV since she was ten. Who knew a little blackmail, a whole lot of family and some sizzling romantic interludes could make Keri reconsider the old dream of Keri & Joe 2gether 4ever?

My take

This book was published as an ebook by Carina Press, but HQN is bringing out the print version. Yay! This is a witty, fun, and poignant story I couldn’t put down.

Giveaway nitty-gritty

Answer one of the questions in bold below. By “contemporary romance” I mean romance between human beings set in the present day. It can be romantic suspense, inspirational, erotic, category-length or whatever.

I’ll draw a winner on Tuesday December 6. If you mention more than one author in your comment, I’ll ask you which one you want me to send the gift certificate to (sorry, folks, I’m a charity worker).

This is open internationally.

Questions:

What contemporary romance novel(s) are you looking forward to in December? Have you read any other books by the authors I mentioned? Which of their books do you like best?

  1. I choose Head Over Heals by Jill Shalvis. She has never disappointed. I’ve enjoyed Catherine Mann in the past but the other two authors are new to me.

  2. I am really looking forward to Jill Shalvis – Head Over Heels. Book #3 in her Lucky Harbor series. This is an author who had me laughing out loud in Starbucks as I read her last book.

  3. Love, love, love contemporaries! I own & have read every book Catherine Mann has ever written. Same goes for Robin Kaye. Can’t wait for these two to be released. I’ve not read anything by Shannon Stacey. Exclusively Yours sounds like fun.

Also looking forward to Jill Shalvis’ Head Over Heels & Louisa Edwards’ Some Like It Hot – just to name a few!

  4. I want to read thsi book so bad that even though I’m out of work, I do odd jobs to pay the bills and my bad habit of buying books or going to the library for them. My all time favorite author is Cathrine Mann or Joanne Rock…always am looking for a hot hunky man with juicy romance story but my favorite is reading about a seal or a man in uniform, and they both write good books. Sorry but need to pick Cathrine for I love her story lines about guys in a uniform(seals) if I win this giveaway!

  5. I’m looking forward to Until There Was You by Kristan Higgins. I’ve read many of her books and adored them. I also heard that there’s going to be a hero perspective in her latest that I am really looking forward to. I have many go-to contemporary authors: Susan Wiggs, Carla Neggers, Lori Wilde, and more. Plus I want to find more. Turns out all of the authors you mentioned are new to me but I have heard of them and do plan to read their books soon 🙂

  6. after reading “unlawful contact” by pamela clare o..o i very like it this book…iam enjoy with the stories..the hero make me melting…i love this book…

  7. I have been a fan of Catherine Mann’s books from the first one she published. Grayson’s surrender is still one of my favorites

  8. I have Shannon Stacy’s book in ebook form (in fact the whole series) languishing on my tbr pile …but I do plan to read them as I love Shannon’s writing. I also pre-ordered Catherine’s Mann’s book but haven’t read the before it yet either(my tbr is kind of behind schedule). I am looking forward to two books you didn’t mention, Hidden Summit by Robyn Carr and Lover’s Leap by Emily March, I love Emily March’s series and am planning to start Robyn Carr’s in 2012.

  9. I’m looking forward to read the latest book by Jill Shalvis! I only started reading her books this year but I inhaled her complete backlist already. 😉 I love Shannon Stacey’s Exclusively Yours and I’m so glad it comes out in print now, too.
    Thank you for this giveaway!

  10. I love Catherine Mann so looking forward to “Hot Zone”. Also, looking forward to Christy Reece’s “Sweet Reward”. I’m going to check out Robin Kaye and Shannon Stacey.

  11. I don’t really keep track of release dates, but I do know that I can’t wait to read Head Over Heels by Jill Shalvis – I loved the first two books. As for the list above, I’ve read one by Robin Kaye and enjoyed it. I have three others by her sitting on my TBR pile. I swear I’ll get to them one of these days. I also love Shannon Stacy’s books. I’ve read the whole Kowalski series already in ebook format and it’s great.

  12. I’ve heard of them, but I haven’t read any books by the authors you wrote about. I’m looking forward to reading Head Over Heals by Jill Shalvis. Her Lucky Harbor series is getting a lot of buzz, so I’m curious to see if I like it.
