Contemporaries to covet in February – giveaway!

Jaded by Anne Calhoun

Hello, friends! I hope your 2014 is going well so far. How are your New Year’s Resolutions? Mine are going great, mostly because I didn’t make any. 🙂

My long-time blog followers will know that I used to publish a post called “Contemporaries to covet” on the first Monday of every month. After I had my daughter, it kinda fell by the wayside. But I’m bringing it back!

So here’s the deal. In this post, I tell you about a few of the contemporary romance novels coming out this month that I’m most looking forward to. You tell me yours in the comments below, and I’ll randomly choose one commenter to win a $10 gift certificate for herself AND for the author she mentions in the comment. See below for details, but first, here’s what I’m coveting this month.

Jaded by Anne Calhoun

Jaded by Anne CalhounThey can’t hide from desire…

After life as a cop in Denver leaves him burned-out, Lucas Ridgeway returns to Walkers Ford, South Dakota, to serve as their chief of police. He’s hoping to start over with a clean slate and avoid any emotional entanglements—even after his next-door neighbor kisses him senseless. Alana is passionate, dedicated, and most importantly leaving town soon. So why not have some fun?

Alana Wentworth comes from a larger-than-life political family, yet all she wanted was to be a librarian. Then after an embarrassing marriage proposal from Mr. Not-For-Her, she jumps at the chance to live her dream for a few months. She wasn’t supposed to get involved with the community—or sexy, troubled Lucas. But when the time comes for Alana to put Walkers Ford behind her, she’s not ready. And Lucas may not be ready for her to go…

Why I want it

I loooove Anne Calhoun’s books. They are unspeakably sexy because she plumbs the depths of her characters’ emotions like almost no other author I know. If I’m reading an Anne Calhoun novel, my house could catch fire and I wouldn’t notice. I. Love. Her.

Catching Heat by Alison Packard

Catching Heat by Alison PackardFeeling the Heat #3

Life has taught Angie DeMarco that all baseball players are womanizers, and her incredible one-night stand with sexy San Francisco Blaze back-up catcher J.T. Sawyer seemed to prove it. Determined not to give in to their sizzling chemistry a second time, she’s kept her distance ever since, focusing on her accounting job with the team. But now she’s laid off…and pregnant.

J.T. was hurt by Angie’s rejection, but with one more year with the Blaze, he has no time for love. He needs to spend the off season training hard so he can negotiate a better contract with a new team at the end of the year. But when Angie shows up on his doorstep, he‘s overwhelmed by wanting to not just do right by her but pursue a relationship with her. Hoping for a second chance, he proposes.

Angie agrees to marry J.T. on one condition: the marriage will be purely a business arrangement. But as Angie spends time with him and his family, and J.T. neglects his training to spend time with her, what begins as a union in name only slowly grows into something more—something that looks a whole lot like love and friendship.

Hard As You Can
Book 2 – The Hard Ink Series

Hard As You Can by Laura KayeEver since hard-bodied, drop-dead-charming Shane McCallan strolled into the dance club where Crystal Dean works, he’s shown a knack for getting beneath her defenses. For her little sister’s sake, Crystal can’t get too close. Until her job and Shane’s mission intersect, and he reveals talents that go deeper than she could have guessed.

Shane would never turn his back on a friend in need, especially a former Special Forces teammate running a dangerous, off-the-books operation. Nor can he walk away from Crystal. The gorgeous waitress is hiding secrets she doesn’t want him to uncover. Too bad. He’s exactly the man she needs to protect her sister, her life, and her heart. All he has to do is convince her that when something feels this good, you hold on as hard as you can–and never let go.

Why I want it

I’ve only read a couple of Laura Kaye’s novels, but I absolutely loved them. Hot, tender and full of depth, they are a perfect way to while away a snowy Saturday.

Giveaway!

Answer at least one of the questions in bold below. By “contemporary romance” I mean romance between human beings set in the present day. It can be romantic suspense, inspirational, erotic, category-length, novellas or whatever.

I’ll randomly choose one winner on Tuesday February 11, 2014. That person will get a $10 gift certificate to the online book retailer of their choice, AND I’ll send the same to the author they mention.

If the winner mentions more than one author, I’ll ask her to choose which one gets the gift certificate.

This is open internationally.

Questions:
What contemporary romance novel(s) being released in February are you looking forward to? (There’s a wonderful list at Heroes & Heartbreakers.) Have you read anything by the authors I mentioned? Which of their books do you like best?
